A highly qualified legal mind, Tan Sri Mazlan holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and the Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) Malaya — a foundation that has uniquely equipped him to lead both in the field and in the courtroom. This rare combination of legal expertise and operational command has defined every role he has held throughout his distinguished career.
Serving successively as State Police Chief of Melaka, Sarawak, and Selangor — including the most populous and complex state in Malaysia — Tan Sri Mazlan's strategic acumen and tireless dedication propelled him to become Director of the Commercial Crime Department, where he revolutionised the nation's fight against financial crime and corporate fraud.
The crowning achievement of his remarkable career came with his appointment as Deputy Inspector-General of Police — the second-highest position in the Royal Malaysia Police hierarchy and one of the most powerful law enforcement roles in Malaysia. In this position, he reshaped criminal investigation strategy, integrated advanced digital security technologies into national policing, and achieved measurable, nationwide reductions in criminal activity.
